Tribute paid to Manipur landslide victim at Haflong

HAFLONG: Assam Minister Nandita Gorlosa, Chief Executive member, N C Hills Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa and Dima Hasao Deputy commissioner Nazreen Ahmed paid tribute to Balaram Sharma with a floral wreath at Haflong 'Shradhanjali' on Saturday.

The body of Sharma was brought to Haflong by helicopter on Saturday from the place of the incident in Manipur. A guard of honour was given to him. The body was taken to his house at Umrangsu.

Jawan Sharma was born on June 23, 1988 to Mayadevi and Bindu Sharma. He joined the service in 2014.

He left behind his expecting wife Ambica Poudel with six other family members. He was the youngest son of his parents.

Meanwhile the CEM Gorlosa and DC Ahmed met the family members of Jawan Priyam Dutta and consoled his father Prasun Kanti Dutta at Kashipur near Lower Haflong. The body of Jawan Dutta is yet to be traced. A huge crowd of people received the body of jawan Balaram Sharma at Govindanagar, Umrangsu. A huge procession comprising thousands of people was taken out from his house.
