Tribute to Dr. Prabin Kumar Deka

Death is imminent. Dr. PK Deka was my moha who married my mother’s youngest sister in 1966. Moha was born at Guwahati at Nijarapara in the year 1939. He passed matric in 1956 and intermediate in 1958. He did his Master's Degree in Radiology in 1966. Moha joined GMCH in 1966 and after retiring as head of the Department in Radiology and Superintendent of GMCH, he was a professor in Radiology at Silchar Medical College for a brief period of time. After retirement, he was assigned to the post of Project Director Assam Area IX and thereafter he went to Manipal (Nepal) along with moha and together they stayed till 2009. Moha was a member of Rotary Club and a member of Doctor Guild, Assam. He had gone to many countries in the world is a member of the Rotary Club. He was a complete gentleman. I remember his colleagues namely, Dr. Boghi Bhuyan and Dr. Gazi Ahmed often seen in his house at Hengabari. Moha used to visit our house at Ambari and was often seen in family functions. The couple celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2016 with grandeur.

On January 24 he was admitted to GMCH and stayed for a month till February 24 and on March 8, moha died of a heart attack in wee hours at 5.00 am. On the day of his Adya Shraddha, I pray to the almighty for his eternal peace.
