Tribute to Tapan Kumar Sarma

Long back when Facebook, Instagram and other social networking sites were still unheard of, a small-town boy had alist of friends and acquaintances that one could boast of even today. Growing up in the town of Mangaldai under the erstwhile Darrang district, this boy had dreams in his eyes to make it big someday. But this was not an easy task for he was the eldest among eight children (all boys) and responsibilities weighed heavy on his shoulders right from an early age. But determined he was to face life head-on. Thus the journey to the capital city of Guwahati, both for education as well as to explore opportunities for his siblings. By sheer dint of hard work and an inherent smartness, the dividends paid of and the eight brothers soon got settled after completing professional degrees and securing decent jobs. It was then time to raise his own family. With God's grace he had a wonderful family of three girls and a boy and a competent and multitasking wife. Whatever and whenever responsibilities of his own, as well as the larger family, came knocking, he was that pillar of support for one and all. Not only that, but there were countless others outside the family too who depended on him as if he had a magic solution for anything. In fact, he was nothing short of an all weather troubleshooter! At ease with both a small time worker and a high level government officer, he could befriend someone in the blink of an eye. The engine for all of us who till his last day kept a long line of bogies right on track, he always liked to present himself as a dapper person. Little did we all know that on December 17, 2021, our Bhindeu, Tapan Kumar Sarma would receive a friend request from God and that he would gladly accept it in no time! May Bhindeu find a place in the feet of The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krishna!
