Tributes paid to five martyrs of anti-CAA agitation in Naharkatia

NAHARKATIA: Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Naharkatia regional unit, AATSA Naharkatia branch and AAGSU Naharkatia regional unit jointly paid tribute to the five people who died in the anti-CAA protest. Organizing a shradhanjali programme at Moran Tiniali, the organizations and people of Naharkatia paid tribute to the five martyrs on Sunday.

The advisor of AJYCP, Dibrugarh district committee said, “In this protest, we lost five people. The government actually killed five innocent people. We have organized this shradhanjali to pay our respect and tribute to the five martyrs. From Naharkatia we demand the government to take necessary action to ensure that the martyrs are remembered. We will fight against this Act until it is scrapped.”

Around 200 people joined the shradhanjali programme and paid tribute to the five martyrs. “Through this shardhanjali programme we not only pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for Assam but also warn the Union and State governments that along with others, the tea tribes also pledge to fight against this contentious Act till it is scrapped,” said AATSA Dibrugarh district organizing secretary Satyam Nayak. President of All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union Naharkatia regional committee, Puskar Sharma said, “The BJP-led government has killed democracy. They are running a dictatorship government. We pay tribute to those martyrs of the anti-CAA agitation who were killed by the BJP government.”
