Trinamool Congress stages protest against price rise in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The Trinamool Congress flayed the incumbent Government of Assam alleging its miserable failure with regard to controlling the unabated rise in the prices of essential commodities, vegetables, life-saving medicines and petro-products.

Regarding the issue, the members of the Lakhimpur district unit of the political party, led by Lekhan Burhagohain, staged a protest programme in front of the District Commissioner’s office. During the demonstration, the protesters shouted a number of slogans slamming the governments at the Centre and in the State in connection with the issue.

While making a scathing attack on both governments, Lekhan Burhagohain said that sky-rocketing prices of the essential commodities had crippled the life of the masses and implied the weakness of the governments in controlling the issue. The political party demanded both governments to initiate immediate steps to regulate the prices of the essential commodities, life-saving medicines as well as the petro-products.
