Two blind students overcome all odds to shine in HSLC exam

PATHSALA: Two students from Tapoban, a shelter home for the physically challenged and helpless, shone in the HSLC examination, 2020. Both are hundred per cent blind.

There was excitement and happiness all around in Tapoban following the success of the two students. Kumud Kalita, who along with his wife Luki Patgiri, has been extending full care to children since long. Now the shelter home has 25 inmates and 120 students from outside who had come to the centre for help.

An inmate of Tapoban, Sumi Das, who is the daughter of Dasarath Das and Nijara Das, secured first division and obtained 86 marks in the HSLC exam. She is also visharad in classical music.

Mridul Das, son of Kanteswar Das and Phuleswari Das, secured 376 marks with letter marks in Assamese. He is also a visharad in tabla.

Barpeta Deputy Commissioner Munindra Sarma visited the Tapoban campus, Pathsala and felicitated the blind students with packets of books, pens and chocolates for their brilliant result.
