Two-day border area cultural programme organized by NEZCC in Dhubri

DHUBRI: A two-day border area cultural programme was organized in Agomoni of Dhubri district by North East Zonal Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in collaboration with the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam.

Cultural artistes from four States, including Mizoram, Meghalaya, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh, participated in the programme along with the local troupes of Dhubri and Kokrajhar. The first day's programme was held in Pragati College at Agomoni and the second day's programme was organized in the Ramraikutir Xatra of Satrasal.

The NEZCC organizes various cultural programmes in the north-eastern region to promote the rich indigenous folk songs and dance of the region.

Talking to The Sentinel, in-charge of Dhubri Cultural Development Officer, Mrinmoy Das informed that as a part of border area programme, this year a major cultural event was organized in Dhubri district, wherein a cultural exchange programme took place.

Das further informed that the aim of such programmes was to impart the knowledge of folk dances of other States and spread awareness about it among the college students as well the general public. The students of Pragati College in Agomoni performed on the first day, wherein the students got an opportunity to interact with the folk artists of other States. A BA student of Pragati College, Neha Roy, while expressing her views on the folk cultural event, said that this also enriched their knowledge about the culture of other places.
