JAMUGURIHAT: A two-day Tihar festival organized by the Erabari Village Development Committee at Erabari namghar premises concluded here on Saturday. The event was inaugurated by Ganga Devi, president of Dakhin Shilabandha GP. Deusi-Bhaili teams from various parts of the greater Jamugurihat area participated in the festival.

The festival was attended by people of various ethnic groups of the area and a Deusi-Bhaili competition was also organized with a wide range of programmes, said Gopal Chetri, President and Madhav Chetri, Secretary of Erabari Village Development Committee. Tihar is a mega festival of the Gorkhas which is celebrated for five days during the Dipawali every year. Deusi-Bhaili is similar to the Hussari which is performed by the Assamese people during the Bihu season. Generally, Deusi is performed by men while Bhaili is performed by women in groups.
