BAKSA: Two people from Nagrijuli area in Baksa district died of COVID-19 on Thursday night.

The deceased persons have been identified as Gopal Das (47) of Siddhinathpur village and Chatra Bahadur Thapa (36) of Guwabari village under Tamulpur subdivision in Baksa district. Gopal Das of Siddinathpur village of Nagrijuli area died on Thursday night while undergoing treatment at Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital in Barpeta.

Gopal had fever, cough and breathing problem and was rushed to the COVID Care Centre at Nagrujuli Model Hospital on Wednesday. He tested COVID positive and was referred to Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital in Barpeta in a critical condition on Wednesday. But Gopal died on Thursday when he was undergoing treatment.

On the other hand another, Chatra Bahadur Thapa, a 36-year-old man of Guwabari village of Nagriguli area also, died of COVID-19 on Thursday. Chatra Bahadur Thapa was also hospitalized at the Covid Care Centre at Nagrijuli Model Hospital on Thursday evening. He was sent to Guwahati for better treatment after providing primary treatment at Nagrijuli. Chatra died on Thursday night on the way to Guwahati. The Tamulpur subdivision administration on Friday made arrangements to cremate the body of Chatra following COVID protocol.

On Friday, 203 people took Rapid Antigen Test in different parts of Nagrijuli and 21 of them tested positive. Another 17 persons tested positive in various areas under Tamulpur Block Primary Health Centre.
