Kokrajhar: BTC Executive Member (EM) of Irrigation and WPT & BC Rajib Brahma on Friday inaugurated two newly constructed Flow Irrigation Schemes in Udalguri district to facilitate waters in the paddy field to farmers. Brahma in the first place inaugurated Pagla Flow Irrigation Scheme under AIBP at Jingabil in Udalguri in presence of EM Shyam Sundi and MLA of Mazbat Charan Brahma. The departmental officials were also present. The amount of the project is Rs. 29.49 crore.
In another programme, EM Brahma inaugurated newly completed Khatdong Flow Irrigation Scheme at Ratanpur under AIBP at a cost of Rs. 10.44 crore in the same district. The programme was attended by EM Bonjar Daimary and MLA of Paneri Kamali Basumatary.
The EM of Irrigation Rajib Brahma told this correspondent that both the flow irrigation schemes under AIBP have been dedicated to the farmers. He said irrigation played pivotal role for agricultural productivities in the region. The BTC has achieved in a significant way to improve the irrigation facilities in the region, he said adding that the irrigation canals are also concretized for better distribution of water to paddy fields.
