Two Killed, Six Critically Injured as Bus Collides with Tempo in Goalpara

GOALPARA: In a pathetic road accident that took place on Wednesday morning between Solmari and Bhalukdubi, about 2 km from Goalpara town, two passengers died on the spot and six others received grave injury. The deceased have been identified as Debajit Sarkar (32), the tempo driver, and Dharanidhar Rabha (58), a local resident. Among the other six persons who have sustained grave injuries are Bedila Momin, Anil Sangma, Bhagyashar Rabha and Fazal Hoque. Two persons could not be identified till the filling of this report.

According to the information received from police sources, a Dhubri-bound passenger bus (AS17-9313), which began its journey at 11:30 am from Hasilapara of Goalpara town, collided head-on with a tempo full with passengers. The collision was so devastating that the front side of the tempo totally crashed, killing the driver and a front seat passenger. Police arrived immediately at the scene and admitted all of them at the nearest hospital. The condition of the injured is said to be critical also.
