GUWAHATI: The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Tuesday night arrested two more persons - Jehangir Ali and Rabiul Haq - for their involvement in the abduction and looting of a train passenger named Jaivardan Kumar recently.

According to GRP sources, the new arrests were made on the basis of input received from the two other persons arrested in the case on November 9 last - Jahar Ali and Ayub Ali. Jehangir Ali and Rabiul Haq were nabbed during an operation at Maajor Sar in the Kamrup district. All are charged with abducting Kumar and withdrawing money with the victim's ATM card.

Jaivardan Kumar, hailing from Bihar, travelled by train from Dimapur to Bihar. According to GRP personnel, the miscreants were following him from Dimapur. The family members of Jaivardan lost his track in Guwahati on August 31, where the mobile phone was switched off.

According to the sources, the accused persons are claiming that they took Kumar's possessions from a dead body in the river Brahmaputra.
