HOJAI: On Friday, two operations against corruption were carried out by teams of the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam in Kokrajhar and Hojai districts.

A trap was laid by a team of Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam in Kokrajhar district. At around 5.15 PM, Himan Jyoti Bora, Superintendent of Excise, Kokrajhar was caught red-handed by the team while he was accepting bribe of Rs 25,000. The bribe was demanded by the accused person from the complainant who manages a liquor shop. He received the bribe in his rented house located near MRM Hospital, Kokrajhar. The bribe money was recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses.

A case has been registered in Anti-Corruption Bureau Police Station vide ACB PS case No. 08/2021 U/S 7(a) of PC Act against him. Investigation of the case is on.

Another trap was laid by a team of Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam in Lanka, Hojai district. At around 6.30 PM, Bikash Rai, Head Assistant, Lanka High School, Lanka was caught red-handed by the team while he was accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000. The accused person had demanded the bribe from a retired teacher for processing his leave encashment matter.

On Friday, the accused person had called the complainant and received the bribe from him in front of Lanka High School. The bribe money was recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses. In this connection, a case has been registered in Anti-Corruption Bureau Police Station vide ACB PS case No. 07/2021 U/S 7(a) of PC Act against him. Investigation of the case is on.
