Two poachers arrested by Darrang Police

MANGALDAI: A team of Darrang Police acting on a tip off, laid a Naka on Wednesday night at Silbori at the border of Udalguri district and Darrang district and at about 2 am, apprehended two suspected poachers. The police also recovered one .303 Rifle in dismantled condition along with fourteen rounds of ammunition belonging to the same rifle from their possession. Both the poachers have been identified as Abdul Matin (33), son of Ismail Ali of No.1 Adabheti under Sootea Police Station in Biswanath district and Samsuddin (35), son of Amiruddin of village Sutirpar under Juria Police Station in Nagaon district. During the preliminary interrogation, it has come to light that two persons namely Zagir of village Juria under Juria Police Station in Nagaon district and Musa of No.1 Adabheti under Sootea Police Station in Biswanath district had brought the .303 rifle from Dimapur in Nagaland few months back and gave that to Abdul Matin. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Rosy Talukdar and Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) Pranjal Bora led the successful operation to nab both the poachers.
