JAMUGURIHAT: Two elementary schools under Naduar Elementary Block (Biswanath part) Bogoriati LPS and Bhojmari JBS located in the souther part of Sootea have been submerged by flood waters. Both the educational institutions at the Biswanath-Panpur embankment have been submerged by the flood waters that comes out from the Brahmaputra.

Both the schools had been declared closed by the SMC (school management committee) till the flood scene improves. Notably, Jhankamari LPS was uprooted by erosion recently. The school has been set up on the bank of Biswanath-Panpur embankment temporarily with the help of local people. The teaching-learning practice of Jhankamari LPS is going on under a temporary shed on the embankment. If the southern part of Sootea is not protected with scientific measures of erosion protection then the vast area will be engulfed by the Brahmaputra soon.
