Two worthy sons of Assam nominated for Sena Medal in Mangaldai

MANGALDAI: Just as the tableau of Assam has won the first prize in the Republic Day celebration at Rajpath in New Delhi this year, two worthy sons of Assam have also been nominated for prestigious ‘Sena Medal’ for their individual acts of exceptional devotion to duty or courage which have special significance for the Army. They are Lieutenant Colonel Raj Kumar Pallab Gohain, originally commissioned in the Gorkha Rifles now serving in Rashtriya Rifles, and Captain Siddhartha Das of Parachute Regiment (SF) -- one of the elite regiments of Indian Army.

Captain Siddhartha Das is the eldest son of Dilip Das, a lecturer in English, and Krishna Das, Head of the Department of Economics, both in MC College, Barpeta and a resident of Gandhi Nagar of Barpeta. Captain Siddhartha Das in 2007 got admitted to RIMC, Dehradun and joined National Defence Academy in 2012. He successfully passed out from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in 2015 only to choose his career in the Parachute Regiment (SF) of the Indian Army. His service with bravery and excellence in J& K for three years finally got the recognition with his nomination for the ‘Sena Medal’. His younger brother Lieutenant Debanga Bhushan Das also joined the Indian Army in 2019 and is commissioned in Rajput Regiment.
