UBPO and (BKWAC) have urged CM Himanta to take effective steps to mitigate the burning problems of the Bodo Kachari people living outside the BTAD for their infrastructure and all-round development.
UBPO, BKWAC urge CM Himanta to take steps for resolving burning issues

LAKHIMPUR: The United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO) and Bodo-Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) have urged Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to take effective steps to mitigate the burning problems of the Bodo Kachari people living outside the BTAD for their infrastructure and all-round development. The organization and autonomous council have also urged the Chief Minister to allocate a large amount of fund for the BKWAC to carry on the developmental activities in the areas belonging to the autonomous council.

In this connection, a delegation of the UBPO and the BKWAC called on the Chief Minister and Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) Speaker Biswajit Daimary on Tuesday and held discussion with them. President Manuranjan Basumatary, vice-president Lalit Chandra Brahma, general secretary Pitambar Brahma, assistant general secretary Abiram Boro on behalf of the UBPO and Deputy Chief Executive Member Romeo Narzary, Executive Members Anil Basumatary, Mahipal Boro and Pranab Boro on behalf of the BKWAC took part in the discussion.

During the event, detailed discussion was held over need of village notification, formation of constituencies under BKWAC and conduct of elections therein, sanction of sizeable, adequate funding for BKWAC, proper implementation of Para 6.3 of the MoS of the 3rd Bodo Accord to provincialize the Bodo medium schools and proper implementation of the Forest Rights Act, 2006 to provide land title certificates to the pending Tribal claimants. During the course, the UBPO submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding him to take immediate step for the solution of these issues.
