UBPO urges Government to implement Clause 5 of BTR Accord

KOKRAJHAR: The United Bodo Peoples' Organization (UBPO) which resorted to burn effigies of WPT&BC Minister Chandan Brahma, Minister Pramila Rani Brahma and BPF president Hagrama Mohilary for their lackadaisical attitude to drop the bill for creation of Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) on September 3, has urged the Government of Assam to implement the clause 5 of BTR accord.

The general secretary of UBPO Anil Basumatary in a statement said the Government should implement the clause 5 of BTR Accord to form the BKWAC for the Boro Kachari people living outside the BTC.

Basumatary hailed the State government for bringing requisite bills for creation of Kamatapur Autonomous Council, Moran Autonomous Council and Motok Autonomous Council for socio, economic development and protection of culture, literature of these communities. Further, the UBPO expressed deep shock over the barbaric murder of young doctor Dr. Rahul Basumatary of Udalguri in Jorhat by miscreants. The general secretary of UBPO while condemning the murder with strongest words has demanded justice for late Basumatary by bringing all the culprits involved in the crime to book and punish.
