Udalguri Jila Kavi Samaj condoled death of noted poet Nilmoni Phookan

UDALGURI: The Udalguri Jila Kavi Samaj has condoled the demise of noted poet Nilmoni Phookan. Meghmala Sutradhar, the president and Gagan Lahakar, the secretary have stated in a release that Nilmoni Phookan was born at Dergaon in Golaghat district in 1933 and contributed a lot to the language and literature of Assam. He was awarded with the Sahitya Akademi award, Assam Valley Literary award, Bharatiya Gyanpeeth award and others. He died on January 19 at the age of 89. The members of Udalguri Jila Kavi Samaj have deeply mourned his demise and commemorated his works on literature.
