ULFA (I) cadre apprehended during joint operation in Tinsukia, Arms Recovered

Tinsukia: Based on an reliable input, yesterday, 11/20/19, about presence of suspected ULFA (I) cadres in area of Ritu Kathalguri under Bordumsa PS, a joint search ops led by Tinsukia police, inclusive of 210 Cobra Bn, 68 Bn with 23 PUNJAB Bn Army and 21 Para (SF) was launched in the area.

At around 1530 hrs, the joint search team cordoned and searched a suspected small area whereby one person who identified himself as SS Pvte of ULFA(I) Rituraj [email protected] Phukan, s/o Arun Phukan of Hukani, PS Makum from Kathalguri was apprehended.

Following items were seized and recovered from the apprehended cadre:-

(a) 01 x AK 81 assault rifle

(b)02 x mag

(c) 60 x 7.62 mm live rounds.

(d) 01 x camouflage trousers.

Necessary legal formalities are being initiated.

Earlier, on October 7, 2019, based on a specific input of ULFA(I) targeting security forces/vital installations in current festive season, a joint operations led by Tinsukia police (inclusive of 210 Cobra Bn team 68Bn CRPF) with 23 Punjab Bn Army, 21 PARA(SF) was launched wherein multiple check posts were operated within Tarani area under Pengeree PS.

At around 1530 hrs today noticed a suspicious movement of an individual with a backpack near the Chikarajan area. On seeing the police party and security forces the suspected person tried to flee but was chased and apprehended.

On interim interrogation, the apprehended person identified himself as SS Sgt ULFA(I) Sabdo Asom @ Jonki Borah s/o Dipak Bora, age 29 yrs r/o Maj Mamorani Village under Digboi PS and revealed that he was tasked to target security forces and vital installations through bomb blasts on an immediate basis.
