Union Railway Minister Launches Train Between Gomtinagar and Kamakhya

This train will pass through Gorakhpur (UP), Barauni (Bihar), New Jalpaiguri (West Bengal), New Bongaigaon (Assam) and Goalpara (Assam) during its two-way journey.

Guwahati: A special train running between Gomtinagar in Uttar Pradesh and Kamakhya in Assam has been launched in order to enhance connectivity to the north-east.

As a result, it will benefit the people as the passengers will now get direct rail connectivity between Gomtinagar and Kamakhya with the running of this train.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, himself flagged off this train and even took to his official Twitter handle to share this news.

Train Number 15078 will be scheduled to depart Gomtinagar at 10:00 hours on every Monday and it is scheduled to reach its destination, Kamakhya, at about 15-30 hours later on the next day.

On the other hand, Train Number 15077 will leave Kamakhya at 18:30 hours on every Tuesday and it will reach Gomtinagar at about 01:40 hours on the third day.

It is to be noted that this train will run its operations on a weekly basis.

This train will pass through Gorakhpur (UP), Barauni (Bihar), New Jalpaiguri (West Bengal), New Bongaigaon (Assam) and Goalpara (Assam) during its two-way journey.

 AC- 2 tier, AC- 3 tier, sleeper class and second class coaches for passengers will be available in this weekly express.

However, passengers have been urged to abide by the safety measures related to Covid-19 and also adhere to the instructions issued by their respective states during the journey.

Earlier, the Indian Railways had launched two new Vistadome Express trains between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on December 19 to boost connectivity and tourism between several regions north-eastern India.

This express will operate between Tinsukia in Assam and Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh five days a week, except on Tuesdays and Fridays from Naharlagun and Monday and Thursdays from Tinsukia.
