MANGALDAI: The unit of Red Horns Division organized a Veterans’ Conclave at Rowta in Udalguri district on Monday. The event was also a pre-cursor to Army Day celebration and a befitting tribute to the sacrifices and loyalty rendered by esteemed veterans towards the organization and the nation. The conclave provided the local veterans of the defence force a platform for discussing various post-retirement issues and to spread the message of brotherhood and unity. Veer Naris, widows and 220 ex-servicemen of the district took part in the conclave.
The veterans were informed about the latest initiatives on enrolment of girls in the Army to facilitate their wards and the assistance being provided in pre-recruitment Training at unit headquarters was highlighted. The conclave also included an interactive session and awareness programmes about welfare schemes for Next of Kin and veterans steered by the conducting unit. A thorough medical check-up of ailing veterans and families was also conducted by the unit Medical Officer followed by refreshment and lunch. The event was made lively by organizing a small entertainment programme. A total of 228 veterans were benefitted from the conclave.
