University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya and Mangaldai College sign MoU

MANGALDAI: In a significant development for the future of higher education in the Darrang district, the authority of Mangaldai College, a premiere higher education institution of the region, has undertaken a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM).

The MoU has been signed between the two educational institutions on Tuesday at the conference hall of the USTM with Dr Kamala Kanta Borah, Principal of Mangaldai College, and Anju Hazarika, Registrar of USTM, as the signatories from both the ends. Talking to this correspondent Dr Borah , Principal, Mangaldai College, said that the MoU which would last for the next three years, has opened up many joint ventures for qualitative uplift of academic, research and socio- economic atmosphere of the region.

"We will jointly conduct research works in emerging areas with local relevance by the students, scholars and faculty members of the university. We will also collaborate to organize extension and outreach activities like socio- economic and welfare initiatives for neighbouring and rural masses. USTM will offer scholarship for poor meritorious students for higher studies. They will also provide professional support to us. Extending collaborative support to the people in distress during calamities in the region is also one of focus point of the MoU," Dr Borah added.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Prof GD Sarma, Vice Chancellor (VC) and Dr B.K Das, Pro- VC of USTM, respectively while Dr Santos Borkakati, Coordinator, IQAC, and Nabajyoyi Doley, in charge NSS, Mangaldai College respectively signed the MoU as witnesses.
