nnat Bharat Abhiyan was launched in Dhubri district by BN College in all the five villages adopted by it recently.

DHUBRI:Unnat Bharat Abhiyan was launched in Dhubri district by BN College in all the five villages adopted by it recently. Dhubri's BN College adopted five villages of Dhubri district adopted under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, which is a flagship programme of the Government of India. The five villages adopted are BirshingPt 1, DebottarHasdahaPt V, Matiabhog, Asharikandi and Madaikhali.

The college is planning to carry out different awareness programmes on health and hygiene, Swachhata, education and other socio-economic issues. Talking to The Sentinel, Principal of BN College, Dr. DhrubaChakrabortty said the as a part of the UnnatBharat campaign, the college carried out awareness on COVID-19 and distributed masks in these villages. People responded to the programme and participated in large numbers.

"The NCC, NSS unit of BN College as well extension cell of the college were involved in carrying out the programme," DrChakrabortty further said. In another programme held recently in the college premises, KabitarSurabhi - a collection of poems written by postgraduate students of the Assamese department - was formally released by veteran poet AbulHasan Sheikh. The book KabitarSurabhi has been edited by Dr. AlokaSarma and published by the Assamese department.

Poet AbulHasan Sheikh, Principal of the college, Dr. DhrubaChakrabortty, Head of the Assamese Department, Dr. UpendrajeetSarma and Dr. AlokaSarma spoke on the occasion and said that such literary exercises would broaden the mind of the students and make them reflect on the issues and problems of the society and nation as a whole.
