Various indigenous organizations took out torch rally against CAA in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and All Dibrugarh District Students’ Union, along with the support of various indigenous organizations and the general public, took out a long torch rally on Friday evening against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019. Starting from Amaraguri Gaon, situated next to the historical Bagmibor Nilomoni Phukan Higher Secondary School, the rally, which was participated by scores of members of the said organizations as well as by a substantial number of the general public, culminated at Thanacharali after having crossed Kumarpatty, Panchali, Malipatty, Marwari Patty and Phoolbagan. The agitators, all along the way, shouted anti-CAA slogans. People from all over the town, especially from areas like Amaraguri Gaon, Kumarpatty, Panchali, Guard Quarter, Loharpatty and Amolapatty, took part in the protest rally. The protestors, who were from different religions and all walks of life, collectively demanded the rollback of CAA, as it was believed to be a serious threat to the Assamese language, art, and culture.
