DIBRUGARH: Representatives of various student and youth organizations of Chabua LAC, while participating in a discussion held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room on Friday, drew the attention of Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha and Superintendent of Police Sreejit T towards the flood and erosion problem, dilapidated condition of communication, illegal digging of river silt and mushrooming of illegal brick kilns in various parts that had held back Chabua's development to an extent.

DC Jha emphasized the need for a peaceful environment and sought cooperation from all parties as well as student and youth organizations in maintaining law and order in Chabua. He said that the Water Resource Department had initiated necessary measures for permanent solution to the erosion problem in Chabua Revenue Circle. Jha further stated that the district administration has also decided to implement a project with financial help from Oil India Limited (OIL) for permanent solution of flood in the area.

Responding to the claim of the organizations of mushrooming of drugs and illicit liquor trafficking and gambling, the DC asserted that both civil and police administration would not hesitate to take stern legal action against all those who were closely associated with these illicit businesses. He also assured them that administration would take measures for the development of the dilapidated portion of the NH- 37 near Chabua soon.

The Superintendent of Police, Shreejit T called upon the student and youth representatives to carry out their respective activities in a democratic process and requested them to maintain law and order.

Circle Officer of Chabua Revenue Circle, BhaskarjyotiRajbangshi and Assistant Commissioner Joy Shivani also participated in the meeting.
