Vehicle lifters open fire at  pick-up van, three injured

JORHAT, June 7: A Mahindra Bolero pick-up van bearing registration number AS-03 AC 7246 carrying chicken from Goronga in Golaghat to Mariani in Jorhat district was fired upon by three youths in the Khuta Kota area of Morongi under Ghiladhari Outpost of Golaghat in the wee hours of Sunday. One person, Raju Ghosh was seriously injured after a stray bullet hit him directly in the chest. The assailants who came on a bike even hit two other helpers of the van identified as Abul Hussain and Amar Das with iron rods before forcibly taking away the vehicle. Profusely bleeding, the two somehow maged to walk down to the Borholla Police Station under Jorhat and report the matter. The two were admitted to the Borholla Mini PHC and later admitted to the ICU of the JMCH. Meanwhile, a special team of policemen was rushed to the spot from where they recovered Raju Ghosh lying in a pool of blood and immediately shifted him to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital from where he was shifted to GMCH. His condition is said to be critical.
