LAKHIMPUR: Satyam Sewa Samiti, the common forum of the small scale businessmen and street vendors of North Lakhimpur town, observed the Vendors’ Day in Lakhimpur on Saturday along with the rest of the nation. In this context, a meeting was held in the Sadharan Jati Bikash Parishad district office premises, located at Ward No. 6 of North Lakhimpur town. The meeting commenced with Raju Singha, the founder president of the Satyam Sewa Samiti, who is presently a journalist, in the chair in the presence of as many as fifty small scale businessmen and street vendors. The objective of the event and its significance was explained by Deepanjal Sonowal, the general secretary of Small Scale Businessmen’s Association. Aged street vendor Ashok Shah, who has managed his family with the help of this profession for thirty years, was feted in the meeting wherein detailed discussion was held over multiple issues of the street vendors.
