Vigilance Awareness Week in full swing at IOCL Digboi

GUWAHATI: Vigilance Awareness Week was formally inaugurated with a pledge taking ceremony at IOCL AOD Digboi. The trilingual pledge taking ceremony was held at the main administrative office, Digboi Refinery, Workshop & Motor Garage, and IOCL AOD Hospital. Key messages were read during the ceremony. Sandeep D John ED AOD, N K Barua GM I/C TE & HSE and Hitajit Bhattacharya read the messages of CVC, Chairman IndianOil and CVO at the main administrative office. These messages were shared in the Refinery, Workshop and IOCL AOD Hospital other senior officials. The Vigilance Awareness Week at AOD Digboi Refinery is being observed from Oct 28 to Nov 2 as per directives of Government of India and CVC. The Vigilance team drew out a plan of action encompassing the spread of awareness on transparency, honesty and integrity among employees as well as different strata of the society, stated a press release.

The observation of VAW 2019 witnessed an enthusiastic participation from employees their families, students and teachers from various Institutions of Digboi town, guardians and other invitees. Learned faculty and invited guests enlightened the participants with the importance of inculcating basic humanitarian values in individuals and greatest focus on children so that they grow up into responsible adults of great integrity.

An Inter-School Debate competition as the curtain-raiser programme in presence of Hitajit Bhattacharyya GM (HR), Mridul Shyam DGM (V), senior executives and officials. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 70 students from eight different schools of Digboi town, who debated their thoughts on the topic “In the opinion of the house – Honesty is an inconvenience in 21st century”.

An overwhelming response was generated at the Vigilance Awareness programme held at Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalaya. A general meeting was conducted at the college auditorium to spread awareness amongst the students of the college on imbibing ethical values of honesty and integrity. The meeting was chaired by Dr. A.C Sarma, Principal, Digboi Women’s College in presence of Hitajit Bhattacharyya GM (HR).

An Inter-school Painting Competition was held in 18 schools in and around Digboi with a total participation of 589 students. Citizen’s Mass Integrity Pledge taking ceremony was also held at different schools and colleges in and around Digboi. E-Pledge Kiosks with computer and certificate printing facility were set up at Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Learning & Development department, Digboi Marketing Terminal, to encourage and facilitate taking of E- Integrity Pledge.

Walkathon emerged as a popular event during the Vigilance Awareness Week observation to spread awareness on corruption free society, honest and ethical living among people of Digboi. Nearly 350 school children from 14 schools of Digboi participated in this major awareness generating event carrying placards and sloganeering on honesty, integrity and value based living.
