NAGAON: The district-level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025 got underway at the college auditorium of Nowgong College (Autonomous) from today.
The event served as a platform for young minds from Nagaon and Hojai districts, with Nagaon designated as the nodal district for the programme, organized by the NSS Unit of Nowgong College (Autonomous) under the leadership of Dr Bhuban Ch Chutia, Nodal Officer of the programme, in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Nagaon, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, focusing on the theme ‘One Nation, One Election: Paving the Way for Viksit Bharat.’
The registration phase witnessed an overwhelming response, with a total of 1,072 participants signing up, out of which 156 participants were screened and selected for the district-level competition.
The inaugural ceremony began with an introduction and felicitation of guests and jury members by Dr Bhuban Ch Chutia, the Nodal Officer of the programme. Dr Pulin Ch Borah, Principal (i/c) of Nowgong College (Autonomous), delivered the welcome speech, emphasizing the crucial role of youth in shaping India’s democratic future.
Bikash Ch Pradhan, District Officer of NYKS, Nagaon, provided an insightful introduction to the objectives and significance of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament-2025. The event was officially inaugurated by Girindra Kumar Baruah, former minister, who highlighted the impact of electoral reforms on governance and national development. Narendra Kr Shah, District Commissioner of Nagaon, attended the event as the chief guest and addressed the gathering, urging the youth to actively participate in democratic processes and policy discussions.
A key highlight of the event was the Youth Parliamentary Speech (Debate) segment, where participants delivered three-minute speeches on the topic ‘One Nation, One Election: Paving the Way for Viksit Bharat.’ The first day event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Amiya Patar, Programme Officer, NSS Unit, Nowgong Girls’ College, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, organizers, and participants.
