We aren't proud of this: Dhubri police after collecting Rs 85,000 fine from mask-rule violators

Dhubri Police warned all violators of COVID norms that the Police would be very strict with "irresponsible violators''

Dhubri: Dhubri Police on Monday collected Rs 85,000 as fine from violators not following COVID protocols like wearing mask. The collection happened on their first day of Sensitisation cum Enforcement of COVID related Mask Protocol drive. "..and we are not proud of this'' said Dhubri police taking to Twitter and urged the people to act responsibly.

In order to stem the further spread of the coronavirus pandemic, Assam police have been penalizing the violators by imposing hefty fines.

The Centre has made wearing face masks or covers mandatory in public and workplaces, maintaining social distancing, restrictions in spitting public, and others.

It has further directed all the State Governments to impose stricter fines and rules to make people abide by the COVID-19 guidelines.

The Gauhati High Court too has directed the administration and the police of every district to be strict about masks and impose fine wherever people are flouting norms and not wearing masks.
