‘We must all pledge to build a new Assam’: Lurin Jyoti Gogoi

TINSUKIA: “In this hour of crisis, we must all pledge to build a new Assam and to initiate bold steps to take on all decisive and aggressive forces that have been trying to disintegrate age-old integrity and harmony among various communities living in Assam,” said Lurin Jyoti Gogoi, general secretary of AASU, while opening the Kendriya Mukuli Bihu at Chaliha Nagar Playground on Monday.

Organized by Tinsukia Regional Students’ Union under the aegis of Sadou Tinsukia Zilla Chatra Santha, Gogoi addressing a mammoth gathering of Bihu revellers said that this New Year would be very challenging for all Assamese as their very existence was at stake.

“Each and every Assamese, irrespective of caste, community and religion, including indigenous communities must act in cohesion,” remarked AASU general secretary. Earlier, the Bihu flag was hoisted by Rana Kumar Changmai, Principal i/c of Tinsukia College. While the AASU flag was hosted by Binod Dubey, president district AASU, the AASU mouthpiece Gati was released by senior journalist Amulya Khatoniar in presence of several dignitaries.
