Week-long events to celebrate ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ by Sashastra Seema Bal in Sarupathar

SARUPATHAR: To mark the 20th anniversary of victory in ‘Operation Vijay, the Kargil War, all formations of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is conducting a series of activities involving the stakeholders of border areas. ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ is the day of pride for the nation in general. It is the day to remember the martyrs, their sacrifices and strengthen the resolve of the armed forces to the cause of the nation. ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ is being celebrated at DAB sector-B along Assam-Nagaland border by 68th SSB Bn under the direction of 68th SSB Bn commandant Madhukar Amitabh. The week-long program is being celebrated to commemorate the valour and supreme sacrifice of the soldiers of the Indian force.

On the other hand, various programs on a daily basis have been organized during the celebration of ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ on July 20 a peaceful Vijay rally was organized under the supervision of Dy commandant of 68th SSB Bn, M.T. Meren, a huge gathering was seen and both the Naga as well as Adivasi villagers participated in the rally. M.T. Meren also enumerated the spirit of the ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ to the locals of the area.

Meanwhile, on July 22, a friendly football tournament was organized at Yanpha football ground wherein a total of six teams of both the States of Assam and Nagaland had participated. The initiative was a successful one since after the Armageddon of 2014 both the communities never came on a common platform. It was for the first time both the communities played together in the name of ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’. The basic purpose of the program was seen as getting unfolded into a beautiful blossoming flower, which did not blossom for the past few years. Again on Wednesday, various sacrifices of the armed forces were showcased and also the various roles and formations of SSB Bn were explained to the general masses. Patriotic movies were shown to the youths of the area to instill in them a sense of pride in their armed forces and to inculcate a patriotic feeling. On Thursday, painting and debate competitions were organized at a higher secondary school amongst the students on the topic of Kargil Vijay. On Friday, a blood donation camp was also organized at the SSB headquaeters in Gholapani, Chetiagaon.

Moreover, according to the report, today the 68th SSB Bn will organize a cultural program at Rajapukhuri playground in which different tribes and communities will showcase their traditions in the form of traditional dance and songs. During this program, the orchestra of SSB will also showcase their talents which will mark the end of the week-long program to commemorate the valiant sacrifices of the forces of India.
