Wild bee-keeping and training programme held in Baksa district

BAKSA: Vice-Chairman Ramen Deka attended the valedictory function of 15-day training programme on 'Wild Bee keeping and processing' at Harinchara area in Baksa district (BTAD) on Tuesday. This is a part of the climate resilient activity under the project entitled 'Designing Climate Resilient Practices to strengthen Management of Kaziranga and Manas Landscape' sponsored by State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) with its implementing partner Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC).
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Vice-Chairman Ramen Deka spoke at length at how the project can bring about sustainable income in the long run and how it can creat a balance in the ecosystem. Deka also said that if the project is successful then in future SITA would like to help in setting up of a honey processing unit in association with ASTEC in the village. Later the vice chairman along with the dignitaries also distributed bee boxes and other accessories to the trainees. After the programme, the dignitaries visited 2KW Off-Grid SPV Power Plant installed at Kawli High school which was also a part of the same project.
Co-Vice Chairman Dhruba Prasad Baishya who attended the programme also spoke on the occasion. The programme was attended by Dr. Chandra Barooah, Sr. Scientist, ASTEC, G.G Das, Advisor (F & A) SITA, D.S Hazari, ARO, officials of SITA & ASTEC, stated a press release
