TANGLA: In yet another incident of elephant death, a wild jumbo was found dead in Udalguri district. The wild jumbo was found dead at 2 no. Bamunjuli village along the Indo-Bhutan border of the district.

The elephant is believed to have been separated from its herd, though the cause of death has not been ascertained yet. "The villagers witnessed the wild elephant on Thursday morning and informed us. Later we retrieved the carcass," said a forest official. "We suspect that the elephant, while moving with the herd, got separated, he added.

The site of the incident is near the Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary along the Indo-Bhutan border, which is about 30 km from the district headquarters, Udalguri.
