KOKRAJHAR: The candidate of United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) from 28- Gossaigaon constituency, Somnath Narzary, who was former treasurer of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU), said that his win was almost certain as the sitting MLA of Bodoland People's Front (BPF) had failed to bring significant development.

Talking to media persons in Kokrajhar, Narzary said that sitting MLA Majen Narzary from BPF had been representing the constituency since the last 15 years but the constituency lacked proper healthcare facility, drinking water supply, good roads and basic infrastructure. The unemployment problem also had not been addressed. The schemes of the Government of India for poor and underprivileged families had not been properly implemented and BPL families had been deprived of PMAY houses and other pro-poor schemes, he said, adding that the funds of the centrally-sponsored schemes were misappropriated by the leaders of BPF in the last 17 years.

Replying to questions, Narzary said that he would concentrate on development of the constituency and solving the social and economic problems of the area. "The UPPL ensures establishment of good governance and no corruption," he said, adding that they would work as per the guidelines of the party.
