Winter garments & woollen blankets distributed by Kalibari Trustee Board in Dhubri

DHUBRI: Winter garments and woollen blankets were distributed among the poor and unprivileged people of Dhubri town by Kalibari Trustee Board in its premises on Wednesday.

A meeting held in this connection was presided over by social worker and president of Simanat Chetana Mancha, Purvottar, Dr. Pratima Neogi. In the meeting, former Principal of Bhola Nath College, Prof Girindra Nath Goswami was felicitated.

Speaking in the meeting, Dr. Neogi recalled the contribution of Prof Goswami who would be leaving Dhubri for Jorhat within a couple of days to be with his son. “A void will be created after the departure of Pro. Goswami as apart from being an academician, he remained associated with a number of organizations and became a father figure in the town. His thousands of students, well-wishers, friends and relatives will miss him. We all wish him a long happy life with sound health,” Neogi added.

Prof. Goswami, while addressing the meeting, thanked the members of Kalibari Trustee Board for their love and gesture of affection towards him, and wished all of them a happy life and appealed to the Kalibari Trustee Board to carry out social work for the well-being of people.

Dhubri district BJP president Dr. Debamoy Sanyal also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the social works being rendered by Kalibari Trustee Board to the people in need.

Nearly 250 woollen blankets and winter garments were distributed by the Kalibari Trustee Board members - Dipankar Mazumdar, Kartik Chandra Choudhury, Manas Paul, and Tapan Das. The Board also handed over woollen blankets, winter garments and sweets for the inmates of Nevarb Nirmal Bhavan, an old-age home.

Earlier, treasurer of Kalibari Trustee Board, Arabinda Paul explained the objective of the meeting. Most of the trustee members, including assistant general secretary of the board, Gour Chandra Paul were present in the meeting.
