Woman dies after allegedly tortured for dowry in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: A 29-year old married woman died due to alleged torture by her husband and in-laws for dowry in Tinsukia on Friday.

According to the FIR lodged at Doomdooma PS by Krishna Murari Sharma of Laipuli Tinsukia, the uncle of the deceased, his niece Monika Sharma was married to Navin Sharma of Palang Lane Deomali TE under Baghjan PS in April 2021. But soon after marriage, her husband Navin Sharma, father-in-law Radheswar Sharma, mother-in-law Uma Sharma along with other family members used to torture her physically and mentally for dowry.

On Friday, she was brought to Tinsukia by her husband in a senseless condition with marks of injury on her body. On reaching the hospital, doctors pronounced her brought dead.
