JOYSAGAR: Tilwara Mehra (27), a female labourer and wife of Bishnu Mehra of Borhat Tea Estate of Charaideo district died due to electrocution on Sunday evening. In this accident, her daughter Sukhmoni (3) also received major injury and she was sent to AMCH, Dibrugarh for better treatment. Sources revealed that a 440 MW electric wire of APDCL had suddenly fallen on Tilwara’s house and both mother and daughter came into contact with the wire.

The Borhat regional Tea Tribes Students’ Association has sharply criticized the negligence of APDCL and alleged that about nine tea garden workers had lost their lives in one and half year due to this negligence. The ATTSA also slammed State Power Minister and Sonari MLA Tapan Kr. Gogoi alleging that he had no consideration for the labour class people and had not visited the families of any of the tea garden workers who had died due to negligence of the APDCL.

The Borhat regional ATTSA also staged protest and demanded legal action against the local APDCL sub-station employees who allegedly did not pay heed to the public petition served earlier to repair the high tension 440 MW electrical wires of the tea garden.
