Woman killed by son in Kakoijana area under Bongaigaon district

BONGAIGAON: In a shocking incident, an old-aged woman namely Someswari Ray (85) was murdered by her son Prabhash Deb Ray (47) in the Kakoijana area under Bongaigaon district on Sunday. It is to be mentioned that Prabhash was mentally disturbed since a long time.

Describing about the incident, one villager said that the incident took place at about 11 am. "Prabhash was mentally disturbed and used to move with a sharp weapon always. He lived in a different house from his mother in the same campus. Our villagers used to live always far from him. Someswari's blood covered body was first noticed by her another son. He informed all villagers and we rushed to Someswari's house. We noticed Someswari's body covered with blood. We also noticed Prabhash in his house with a big knife in his hand. We immediately informed the police because trying to nab him was dangerous," the villager mentioned.

The accused has been arrested by the police and a case has been registered. Talking to the mediapersons, OC of Abhayapuri Police Station Dipak Saikia said that investigation is on. "We will produce him before the court and the recovered body has been sent for postmortem. The murderer is mentally disturbed," he added.
