Workshop by Cultural Affairs department, Sonitpur begins at Jamugurihat

JAMUGURIHAT: A ten-day workshop organized by the Cultural Affairs department, Sonitpur in collaboration with Jamuguri Bohagi Mela was formally inaugurated by Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika on Saturday at Jamugurihat. The inaugural session began with a Jyoti Sangeet performed by Pallabita Mahanta, chairman of Jamuguri Town Committee. Inaugurating the workshop MLA Hazarika stressed on the importance of workshops on creative and performing arts as well. It is to be mentioned here that this workshop will cover the area of singing, dance, extempore speech, acting etc. Jayanta Das, secretary of Jamuguri Bohagi Mela conducted the proceedings which was attended by Bhaba Goswami, president of Baresohoriya Bhaona committee, Jayanta Bora, Goutam Lahan, Jagat Saikia, Janardan Bhuyan among others. Dipa Tamuli, Himakhi Saikia, Manash Jyoti Hazarika and Satyaranjan Bora will provide basic training as experts.
