World Heritage Week, 2021 held in Dhubri

DHUBRI: On the occasion of World Heritage Week, Dhubri District Museum organized a heritage walk program where people from various walks of life took part on Sunday. Among the participants were students of B.N College Dhubri, Mausumi Baruah of Gauripur Royal Raj family Gauripur, Art Historian of Assam, Pooja Sonowal, History Enthusiast, Debojit Das, and an ardent social activist of Dhubri, Simul Sarkar.

The theme for the heritage walk was 'Exploring the colonial past of Dhubri Town' which was collaborated with the national event of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'.

The walk was flagged off by Mausami Baruah of the Gauripur Royal family. In the walk, a total of 9 sites including colonial buildings as well as religious heritage sites were covered.

Also, a discussion related to the preservation of the rich heritage of Dhubri Town was taken up where the students shared their views and ideas in promoting the rich cultural heritage of Dhubri. A journalist by profession and heritage conservationist, Bijoy Kumar Sharma who led the heritage walk, while elaborating on the historical perspectives and architectural marvels of the colonial sites, also mentioned developing a circuit of heritage path in the Dhubri town as a part of preservation and heritage promotional activity.

Mausami Baruah in her interactive speech urged the students to actively promote the heritage sites of Dhubri through the social media platform. She further added of expanding the heritage walk to Gauripur and Agomoni areas soon.
