Writer Nilotpal Barua chosen for Sahitya Bota

JAMUGURIHAT: Nilotpal Barua; an emerging writer from Jamugurihat, has been chosen for the prestigious Sahitya Bota for his best seller Shukracharya Rabha: Yatra Aaru Matra. The Guwahati-based literary forum Sahitya Chorcha Kendra, Assam confers the Sahitya Bota every year to a young and promising writer. Nilotpal was shortlisted for the award for the year 2019.

But due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, the organizers were unable to confer the award last year. This time, the award will be presented on October 11 at an award-distribution ceremony to be held at Azara, stated a press release issued by Dr. Bhabesh Das and Dr. Paritosh Chakrawarti, joint secretaries of the organizing committee. Diganta Biswa Sarma and Kameswar Brahma, both Sahitya Akademi translation awardees, will be felicitated in the award distribution ceremony. Nilotpal is the recipient of the Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Bota 2020 awarded by Axam Xahitya Xabha.
