Xahitya Xabha bodies observe Nijar Din in Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX), the largest literary organization of the world, and its district and branch units across the State observed the first day of the month of Bohag, on which Manuh Bihu falls, as Nijar Din every year. Following the tradition, the Lakhimpur District Xahitya Xabha and other branch units of the AXX observed the designated day on Friday by organizing due programmes to felicitate the prominent figures who contribute much to build the society and to ameliorate the community.

In this connection, the Telahi Kamalaboriya Sakha Xahitya Xabha, one of the active branch units of the AXX, feted Ahidur Rahman, retired teacher, social worker-cum-former president of the literary body at his residence at Angarkhowa village. He was honoured with a citation sent from AXX, gamosa, cheleng, japi and bundle of books. On this occasion a literary event with different cultural items was organized under the management of secretary-in charge Sanjib Borah. In the programme, literary and social contributions of Ahidur Rahman were highlighted. Moreover, an interactive session was organized on the importance of the Telahi and Kamalaboriya mouzas in the history of Assam. Noted poet Haren Hazarika, former president Nila Chutia, Prasanta Kumar Borah, dramatist Shyamanta Bordoloi and many other prominent persons took part in the programme.

On the other hand, observing the Nijar Din, Uttar Lakhimpur Xahitya Xabha feted retired professor, academician Loken Hazarika, a noted newspaper publisher, who published Natun Batori from Lakhimpur. The literary body also feted Mohibul Hussain, retired officer of Union Government, a social activist-cum-writer and Arati Gohain Duworah, a prominent writer and existing president of Lakhimpur district unit of Lekhika Samaroh Samiti. Uttar Lakhimpur Xahitya Xabha president Dr. Premananda Howborah, vice-president Dipak Hazarika, former president Dr. Bonti Gogoi Howborah, secretary Tilak Deka, member Jetuki Dutta and other dignitaries took part in the felicitation programme.
