Year ending conclave by AASU held in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: A conclave on retrospection of the year 2021 was organized by the North Lakhimpur regional unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) in Lakhimpur Commerce College on Thursday evening. The conclave was organized in association with the AASU unit of the Lakhimpur Commerce College under the management of North Lakhimpur regional unit AASU president Bitopan Bhuyan, general secretary-in charge Litu Gogoi, former AASU leader Prashanta Dutta.

Eminent personalities from various fields in the district of Lakhimpur, who excelled in their areas in the calendar year of 2021 were felicitated by the organization in the conclave. The newly appointed Principal of Lakhimpur Commerce College, Dr. Lohit Hazarika was felicitated by the organizers in that event. The newly appointed Principal of Ujani Majuli Kherkatiya College Dr Jahnabi Lahkar Baruah and the Principal of Lakhimpur Kendriya Mahavidyalaya, Dr Golap Sarma Baruah was also felicitated on that occasion.

Dr. Amarendra Gogoi (folk culture), Dr. Nikhil Kakati of Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (health care), Dr. Arabinda Rajkhowa of North Lakhimpur College (literature), Paresh Bhuyan (art), Sashi Khaund (sports) were also felicitated in that event. Participants delivered their retrospections on different subjects of the year 2021 in that conclave.

Vice-Principal of Lakhimpur Commerce College G.K. Chetry, senior professors M.C. Bhagawati, Sazad Hussain, T.C. Deka, Mahesh Dutta, Dr. Sikhamoni Borgohain, Padmeswar Dihingiya, Jyotishmita Borah, AASU State executive member Dhanmoni Dutta, organizational secretary Pulok Borah and many other eminent figures of North Lakhimpur delivered lecture in the event.

Earlier a plantation programme organized by the Assamese department of the college was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Lohit Hazarika. Inaugurating the programme, Dr Hazarika asked the students to keep the beauty and pleasant ambience of the college by maintaining the flower trees planted on that occasion. The HoD of Assamese department Prof. T.C. Deka, his colleagues Mridushmita Hazarika, Dr. Bibha Dutta, A.K. Gogoi also participated in that plantation programme.

This was followed by a singing and dancing competition on the occasion of National Voter's Day at the college. Organized by the IQA Cell of the college in association with Lakhimpur District Administration, the programme also marked the 75th anniversary of Azadi Ki Amrit Mahotshav. Dr. Sangeeta Borthakur Tamuli and Dr. Manju Mani Saikia judged the completion.
