KOKRAJHAR: The Youth Wing BPF on Thursday called on Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Guwahati and discussed on certain issues pertaining to divisive forces operating in the region and protection of land in BTC. The delegation which was led by the president of the Youth BPF-Charan Boro, submitted a memorandum to Sonowal urging him to take appropriate measure to stop using Boro and OBoro word saying that some people in BTC area formed OBoro Suraksha Samity for the interest of their political gain and community. He said that the “OBoro” word meant other than Bodo community which is unconstitutional and because of this organization some misunderstanding is cropping up among the communities residing in BTC region which resulted in dividing the communities besides affecting peace and harmony of the people.

Boro who is also BPF MLA said that certain elements had been creating misunderstanding among the common people by saying that the OBoro people have no land rights in BTC area and they cannot buy land, transfer or register their land. He said this was completely a baseless argument as according to the clause of BTC accord provided in clause 4.3 (A) & (B) and 4.8, every individual of BTC region who have been within the council have rights to buy or transfer or register their land except who are coming from outside.

He also said that the MP of Kokrajhar Naba Kr. Sarania, who is also taking the support of OBoro organization, is sowing the seed of misunderstanding and hatred among each other and thus breaching the peaceful coexistence. He also alleged that MP Sarania had pending criminal cases like murder, kidnapping, robbery and extortion by using illegal arms under Section 201, 203, 396, 364, 812 and 34 of IPC against him in different police stations. The Youth BPF also demanded that his cases should be brought to a fasttrack court and necessary action should be initiated. On the publication of final NRC, Boro said many genuine indigenous people have been excluded from the list. He demanded that all the indigenous people of the State and genuine Indian citizens should be included.
