LAKHIMPUR: Alleging comprehensive failure on the part of the BJP-led Union and State governments with regard to controlling unemployment problem, price hike and current financial downturn of the nation, the Youth Congress came down heavily against both governments in Lakhimpur on Friday. Organizing a press conference at North Lakhimpur Press Club, Lakhimpur District Youth Congress (LDYC) president Ananda Narah sharply criticized both governments regarding the aforesaid issues.

“Sarbananda Sonowal led State government has audaciously failed to mitigate the unemployment problem of the State. Similarly, Narendra Modi led Union government has also failed to generate employment opportunities. In the State, though the appointment was done for some nominal amount of posts under P&RD and some other departments, massive corruption was alleged with regard to the appointment activities. The present government is unable to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the unemployed youth of the State”, he asserted while addressing the media persons. Regarding the price hike, the LDYC president said that the BJP staged random protest programmes alleging price hike during the tenure of Congress-led governments. “But now the BJP-led governments are unmoved to control the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, thereby pushing the common masses to suffer a lot in their day to day life”, he added.

The LDYC president also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government regarding the current downturn of the national economic situation. “Though an unprecedented financial crisis engulfed the globe in 2008, the then Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh was potent enough to secure the Indian economics from being affected by that crisis. But the present Prime Minister has not initiated any steps to handle the financial crisis ongoing in the nation”, he further added. In this regard, State Youth Congress Media Co-ordinator Jintu Hazarika also came down heavily against the Prime Minister and the Union government regarding the fall of developmental rate in the production sector, failure in employment generation, implementation of demonetization and GST in the nation.

LDYC administrative general secretary Gautam Rajkhowa, Lakhimpur LAC committee general secretary Madhurya Phukan and State secretary Trinayan Sonowal also took part in the press conference. The LDYC president declared that their organization would initiate protest programmes against Union and State governments on September 30 demanding the resolve of these crucial problems. On that day, the organization will burn the effigies of Prime Minister, Union Finance Minister and Chief Minister of the State.
