Silchar: On Monday, a group of protestors belonging to the Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal allegedly beat up a youth from the minority community in Silchar.

The group of protestors of the Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal were staging a protest rally against the recent riot that took place in Bangladesh outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Silchar when the incident took place. 

Coincidentally, a youth from the minority community who was trying to pass by the DC office got into an altercation with the members of the Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal.

According to reports, the youth was then attacked with a glass bottle by the protestors. Luckily, the youth was immediately taken to the hospital to get his wounds treated.

Speaking to the media, the youth said, "They pushed me from the back and attacked me with a glass bottle on my head. All of them were members of the RSS and Bajrang Dal. I have lodged an FIR against them in Silchar Sadar Police station in this regard."

The Special Director General of Assam Police GP Singh has asked the Superintendent of Cachar Police Ramandeep Kaur to look into the matter.
