Assam Prepares To Release New SOP Effective From October 1, Zero Restrictions To Be Imposed In National Parks

The Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier revealed that the government is looking forward to returning to normal life in the state by lifting all the restrictions.

Guwahati: On Thursday, it was announced by the Health Minister of Assam Keshab Mahanta that a new set of SOPs will be issued in the state with effect from October 1.

The Health Minister said, "We will announce the relaxation in the sop before October 1. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has thought on this and said that more relaxation will be provided to the people so that they can enjoy the occasion of Durga Puja."

On Wednesday, the Assam Chief Minister had announced the state government's plan to lift restrictions in the state, especially in wildlife sanctuaries and national parks which tourists destinations in Assam.

The Chief Minister said, "The pandemic has taken a huge toll on those who depend on tourism activities for their livelihood. We have cleared withdrawal of all COVID-19 restrictions in all the national parks and wildlife sanctuaries and wildlife safari, hotels, resorts, and all activities in these destinations have been allowed to return to normal functioning from October 1."

He added that the state is looking forward to bringing back normalcy in the state and might lift all restrictions except for few parts where "there might be two or three per cent of restrictions."

However, Chief Minister has emphasized the importance of getting fully vaccinated with both the doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

The tourism-related businesses in Kaziranga are all set to welcome guests and the preparation for it is being done in full swing.
