Zubeen Garg in news again, charged Rs 20,000 for assaulting minor in 2013

Guwahati: Assam singing sensation or you can also call him as the Controversy king of Assam, Zubeen Garg is in news again. The singer has caught the headlines today for a case that was filed against him back in 2013 for allegedly assaulting a minor of that time.

In a recent directive of the chief judicial magistrate of Kamrup (Metro), the additional district and sessions judge of Kamrup (Metro) has ordered Zubeen to pay a fine of Rs. 20,000 and further, sign a bond of Rs 50,000 on The Probation of Offenders Act. Notably, Zubeen had allegedly slapped a minor in 2013 for finding him smoking in public. The victim was identified as Ayan Borbora who happens to be the son of senior advocate and leading social activist Arup Borbora. Ayan also is the grandson of former Assam chief minister Golap Borbora.

Following the incident, a case had been registered against the singer for the physical assault. However, this was not the only case against Zubeen by his father as the following day, another case was registered complaining the singer revealing the victims’ name in some local TV news channels. As revealing the identity of a minor is against the laws that protect the rights of a minor, this was not permissible on part of Zubeen to do so.

However, this is not the first time that Zubeen has come under legal tangles as in 2017, he was charged with a fine of Rs 5,000 along with six months' rigorous imprisonment in the case. At that time, Zubeen was charged under Sec-323, 341 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. He later got relief under Sec-341.

There is nothing new for Zubeen Garg to come under the purview of controversies as his irresponsible attitude and lackadaisical behaviour often puts him in trouble. Whatever is said and done, Zubeen will always continue to be a free-spirit, doing what he loves and living life the way he wants.
